Employment : Presentation

Following the introduction of a new title on employment in the Amsterdam Treaty, the European Union launched the European Employment Strategy (EES) in November 1997. The EES is designed as the main tool to ensure co-ordination of the employment policies of the Member States. traité d'Amsterdam, l’Union européenne a lancé la stratégie européenne pour l'emploi (SEE) en novembre 1997. La SEE est conçue comme l'instrument principal assurant la coordination des politiques de l’emploi des États membres.

Since the launch of the EES, EAPN has drawn on its experience at grassroots level to bring a perspective from unemployed workers and those furthest from the labour market to the evaluation and implementation of the EES. In particular, EAPN seeks to influence the Employment Guidelines and their implementation at the national level.
